Growing The Community
The SHARES Committee (Society Health Activism and Responsible Environmental Stewardship) here at Emerson Ecologics had the opportunity to get their hands dirty by helping out the NH Food Bank community garden.
The Food bank has created a huge garden in the city that provides fresh vegetables to agencies that then hand them out to the community who may not be able to afford them. A huge garden like this needs lots of volunteers, so SHARES jumped at the opportunity.
With every vegetable there are weeds, lots and lots of weeds. After 2 hours of weeding 6 beds, dirty was an understatement but accomplished is what they felt, knowing they are helping these plants grow to feed the community is what it was all about.
