Getting started: Determining your mix of in-office vs. online stock
Determining Your Stock
When you look at your dispensary, there may be items that just jump out to you–where it’s obvious to you what category they live in. But for those that seem to be in a grey area, we’ve created a tool to help you determine which you should stock in-office and which you’d be better off keeping online.
The Balanced Dispensary decision takes into account frequency of use, storage needs, product expiration and shelf-life to quickly determine if a product should be heavily stocked in-office, lightly stocked, or available exclusively online.

Interpreting Results

24+ Points – Daily Use
Frequently prescribed compared to shelf life. Stocked well in your practice’s in-office dispensary and available in your online dispensary for accessible refills.

16+ Points – Clinical Essentials
Less frequently prescribed compared to shelf life and storage needs, but best if available the day of your patient’s appointment. Unless it is a short-term clinical protocol, these items should also be included in accessible refills.

8+ Points – Expanded Selections
Infrequently prescribed compared to shelf-life and storage needs. Typically available only through your practice’s online dispensary.

3+ Points – Lifestyle Selections
Non-clinical selections such as sunblock or non-toxic alternative home and personal care. If there are products which your practice is passionate about that match the values of your practice and your patients, consider offering them as lifestyle selections in your online dispensary.
